Job<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I didn\u2019t just lose everyone and everything.
My biggest loss was that I lost myself \u2014 personally and mentally \u2014 because my thinking was no longer me.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

But I had to go through that to reach my personal version of Job 42.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For many years, I carried the weight of a belief shaped by the beautiful storytelling of the Book of Job \u2014 and what I thought the ending was supposed to be according to the story tellers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But life is not only shaped by stories. It is shaped by moments where people become vultures, taking advantage when you are at your weakest \u2014 stealing knowledge, opportunities, money, career progress, your identity and direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is what made my turnaround take so long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Job becoming jobefen\u00e8 <\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Today, I am just Job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I didn’t just lose everyone and everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My biggest loss was that I lost myself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But perhaps I had to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because without losing the person I was, I could never have reached my version of Job 42.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For many years, I believed what preachers and people told me. I believed the beautiful stories about Job. I believed that the blessing described in Job 42 was the restoration of what had been lost through injustice. I believed it was about recovering what had been taken from me and my family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The real blessing was a new mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And one of the biggest reasons it took me so long to see this was stubborn faith and belief\u2014not faith itself, but the way I understood it. The beautiful storytelling surrounding the Book of Job kept me searching for a different ending while missing the transformation that was happening inside me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My turnaround took forever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In my personal journey, my readers will see why.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Life has taken me through complete loss, illness, disappointment, financial hardship, and most of all it stole my identity as person for a long time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Along the way, I discovered that restoration begins long before circumstances change. Eventually, the external things may follow, but the real work starts much earlier. For me, it began when I found my Job 42 point\u2014and that took almost three decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It begins with accepting reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It begins with taking accountability and responsibility for what is ours to carry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It begins with learning stewardship\u2014not only of finances, but of our time, the people we allow to speak into our lives, because their words are like mustard seeds for everything that follows: thoughts, health, relationships, opportunities, and character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only then can we move forward with integrity, even when the future remains uncertain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I Am Job<\/strong> is my personal journey through that process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is not a website about perfection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is a website about detours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is a website about wasted time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is a website about hard rebuilding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is about what can be done with the years we have left, regardless of what has happened before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For me, that rebuilding came after twenty-five years of hardship simply learning how to come to terms with the losses. It came after recovering from my last stroke and finally breaking through the brain fog that had clouded my thinking for so long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The closest comparison I can offer is what some boxers describe after repeated head trauma\u2014a condition once known as being “punch-drunk.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The symptoms can include memory problems, slower thinking, mood changes, balance difficulties, speech problems, and changes in personality. While recovery can happen to varying degrees, the journey is often long, frustrating, deeply humbling, and marked by further losses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I can honestly say that the medication I was placed on after my central nervous system collapsed in January 2007 made my brain fog significantly worse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My own experience taught me something important:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Healing is not always about returning to who you were before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sometimes it is about becoming someone new.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This blog is about acceptance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is about stewardship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is about accountability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is about resilience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is about finding meaning during all seasons of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is a process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
